It has actually been more of a hassle than being tough. At 9 months old, Daisy doesn't seem to have been house broken, and let me tell you, a 45 lbs dog urinating on the carpet leaves a BIG wet spot and stain if not cleaned up thoroughly. So we've been on the training bandwagon trying to get her to consistently go eliminate outside and it's been a bit of a struggle since she will kind of randomly disappear for about a minute and do her business in another room. The hardest thing so far has really been to teach myself not to get angry with her or raise my voice with her when I find a wet spot or a duke on the floor, and to learn the commands and use them over and over again so that she can easily associate actions with words, such as "go outside?". |
This is her basic schedule, of course with some play time and such which is not detailed.
- (~6:30-7:30AM) Wakes up and goes outside to potty immediately
- (~8AM) Feed first meal after potty
- (~9AM) Goes outside again
- (~12PM) Feed second meal and goes outside again after eating
- (~5PM) Feed third meal and goes outside again after eating
- (~10PM) Get ready for bed time in crate
There are lots of information on the web, I have included a small list of links that helped me get information I needed for house training.
